Yoga philosophy offers us a practical system for living our lives more fully, regardless of our backgrounds. Often misunderstood, we will take the time to make better sense of it.
This workshop will be broken down into three portions. We will begin with a short 30 minute vinyasa practice, in order to become grounded in our bodies and breath. Following the physical practice, we will have a roundtable discussion centered around breaking down the basics of the ancient and vast philosophy that underpins the physical practice. We will primarily be using the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali—one of the main Yogic texts—but will follow the conversation wherever it takes us. We will end our workshop with a short breathwork practice, and meditation.
No prior experience necessary, though it is recommended to bring a copy of the Yoga Sutras, if available. Recommended translations include BKS Iyengar, Edwin Bryant, Swami Satchitananda.
